TRAINING AT THE WESTROW HOUSE ACADEMY, LEEDS

Westrow House Academy is a state-of-the-art facility in Leeds city centre. As well as training apprentices for Westrow’s nine salons in the Yorkshire area, the Academy is also the apprenticeship provider of choice for 45 other salon businesses in the area, drawn by its excellent reputation and proven results.

Apprentices study the Level 2 Hair Professional standard for two years, with the opportunity to progress to the Level 3 Advanced and Creative Hair Professional for a further 18 months. In addition to trips to hairdressing events and exhibitions throughout the year, students can also access, free of charge, a number of courses that regularly take place within the Revlon Professional Academy, housed on the second floor.

Since September 2020 Westrow has been delivering new education courses for adults aged 19+ on a part-time basis, both through the day and evenings with either full or partial funding, depending on eligibility. Students will attend the Westrow House Academy once a week for three to four hours to study both the theory and practical aspect of hairdressing and barbering.

Over a period of nine months they will achieve a Level 1 in hairdressing and barbering and can choose to continue their studies for a further 12 months to achieve a full Level 2 in either hairdressing or barbering.

The course will be via the NVQ route, through the VTCT awarding body.

Says Academy Principle, Laura Shinners: “Students attending Westrow Houses Academy’s adult education courses will be able to study these programmes around a current full time job, but they are also designed for a parent looking to return to education in and around balancing childcare. Adult students will not require a salon placement, but we will offer work experience within the Westrow salon group to enhance their learning journey.”
