This qualification will help driven hair professionals develop their personal and professional skills


The Advanced and Creative Hair Professional apprenticeship is equivalent to A-Levels at Grades A to E. Learners are creative, passionate, and driven professionals who work without supervision, managing themselves and others when required, and providing a quality service, whilst working to the highest standards and continuously developing their personal and professional skills. Highly skilled and experienced individuals, Advanced and Creative Hair Professionals deliver fashion-forward hair trends, inspired by current images and their own creativity, individual flair, imagination and interpretation. Their job roles tend to be creative hair stylists, advanced senior stylists, senior hair professionals or specialist technicians.

Knowledge, skills and behaviours for an Advanced and Creative Hair Professional


By the end of your Advanced and Creative Hair Professional apprenticeship – equivalent to A-Levels at grades A to E – you will be able to:

≠ Demonstrate professionalism by maintaining confidentiality and discretion

≠ Research fashion forward trends, using the results to create, plan and promote a collection of hairstyle looks that reflects your own individuality

≠ Analyse the factors that influence the design and creation of the collection of hairstyle looks, including the target audience

≠ Design a range of looks to create a fashion forward collection of hairstyles

≠ Maintain effective and safe methods of working

≠ Use and adapt a range of sectioning and cutting guidelines, creative and precision techniques and technical skills to create and enhance the collection of hairstyle looks

≠ Carry out precision and personalised cutting tailored to individual client characteristics

≠  Formulate imaginative creative advanced colour conversion services to change the depth and tone of the hair

≠ Use a range of creative finishing and dressing techniques, and advanced creative colouring techniques to enhance the collection of hairstyle looks

≠ Present, showcase and promote your skills though your collection of hairstyle looks via a variety of media types and platforms

≠ Provide a smoothing strengthening service to clients

≠ Carry out in-depth consultation and complex analysis of the hair

≠ Use and apply products, tools and equipment, in accordance with legal requirements, manufacturers' instructions and salon policy

≠ Provide advice on future services and products

≠ Evaluate the results of the service to improve further practice

All Advanced and Creative Hair Professional apprentices must then complete an end-point assessment in order to obtain their qualification.
