Traditionally in colleges, you will begin on a Level 1 or Level 2 qualification, and this will be determined by the qualifications that you come with. Entry requirements can vary but if you’ve got lower than GCSE grade 4 (or C) in Maths and English, you’ll probably start on a Level 1 then progress to Level 2 the following academic year.
Whether you’ve opted for an NVQ/SVQ/VRQ or Technical qualification, if you’ve got the “desired” GCSE grade 4 (C) in Maths or English, you will start at Level 2.
Each level completed in college takes one academic year, so the level you start at will determine how long your college journey lasts.
