The Big Hair Do 2023

Coming together in the name of great hair!

Braid bars, blow-dries, styling stations, product testing, colour consultations, cake, charity raffles, retail offers, selfies, bubbles… and much, much more! On one fabulous evening, hair salons across the UK and Ireland host the annual live celebration that is the Big Hair Do. It’s a chance for the salon team to show off their skills, indulge guests with free treats and services, and use their professional expertise to solve hair issues.

In 2023 the world’s biggest hair party was held as part of the Not ‘Just’ A Salon campaign, in an exclusive partnership with L’Oréal Professional Products.

Businesses in Bristol, Dublin and Edinburgh threw open their doors for this unique “experience” evening, reinforcing their connection to the local community.

Here’s a small taste of what salons got up to…

 NEIL MACLEAN HAIR STUDIO, EDINBURGH

“Come and let your hair down,” said their invitation – and boy, did the Neil Maclean team deliver on their promise! This Big Hair Do put the emphasis on FUN, with canapes, branded cupcakes, prosecco and cocktails served alongside haircare advice, styling tips and demos, including a special area dedicated to hair extensions. Lucky guests also won prizes ranging from luxury hair products to £100 vouchers to spend on future visits!

 MADISON-RAE, BRISTOL

This was their first Big Hair Do – and the Madison-Rae team went all in, not only showcasing their hair expertise with free blow-dries and styling advice, but also incorporating other local businesses – including a personal style advisor from John Lewis. Drinks, nibbles and beautiful floral arrangements helped bring the party vibe.

 FRAME CREATIVE HAIR DESIGN, DUBLIN

Education was the buzzword at this Big Hair Do, with the Frame Creative team delighted to share their knowledge of the latest products, techniques and trends. Clients were excited to be there – they loved learning tips and tricks that they can do themselves at home, whilst having consultations on colour and the Big Hair Do goody bags filled with samples from L’Oréal Professional Products were an exciting finishing touch!
